I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of things still from my wedding. I have a drawer that has some extra invitations, decor, and mementos from the day that I hope to one day put in some sort of memory box to display.
But today I am going to talk about something that I have tackled, cards.
I collected many cards from both my wedding and bridal shower that are still stored in the card box from the wedding and I have put every card I have gotten since there in this box as well. While they aren’t taking up a massive amount of space, they are also not being used in any way and I wanted to do something about that.

This has been a very long process in the making, as many of the steps happened months apart, but it is now complete and I am very happy with the results and I have a lovely new piece of art to display in my home.
I started by buying a large hexagonal hole punch from the craft store. You can use any shape for this, but I like how the hexagons fit together to form a shape.

I then collected a bunch of my wedding and shower cards which had cool designs, pretty colours, or something interesting to punch out and worked to create punches in all those cards. Make sure the cards aren’t too thick as the punch can only cut through so much and you may need to cut the cards if the design you want is not near the edge.

I decided to display my art on a canvas so I purchased one of those in the size that I thought would fit the amount of cards I wanted as well as some glue meant for sticking paper to other surfaces.

I then spent a lot of time playing with the cut outs on the canvas, rearranging the pieces and trying to find the best way that would fit.
Then I started gluing the pieces down, working one section at a time and putting heavy books on top to make sure it all sticks. Once I finished placing all the pieces on a flipped the canvas upside-down and placed the books back on top and left it for 24 hours.

In the end I was very happy with the result and so happy to see this piece of our life every day.

Now to actually go through the cards and figure out which ones I actually want to keep (but more on that another day)
Do you have a cool way that you display wedding or other memories?
This is really lovely! I’m getting married this year and love seeing dots like this! 🙂
