If you have followed me and this blog for a while you will know that I am a minimalist and that I don’t like to keep stuff if I don’t have to. I also have written posts about getting rid of sentimental items and clearing out my memory boxes (see here and here) so today I am going to talk about one of the things that I am planning on keeping, even though they take up a significant amount of space, my planners.
My planners are so much more to me than just to-do lists, they are also my way of tracking my memories and my life and I love being able to look back on them. I have never been able to keep a journal going for more than a few days (as opposed to many family members before me) so this is how I can look back on my life.
I started planning back in the summer of 2015 and my planning style has changed a bit since then which is really cool to look back at and see how it looks different from what I do now. I also enjoy being able to look back at how my life looks so different now as those planners got me through the final stretch of my undergrad as well as my entire masters and my life was very different then as I was tracking my school reading and assignments as well as living at home for the first bit.
Having all of my old planners also allows me to look back at some of the major life events from the day everything got cancelled because I got engaged to my wedding, vacations both with family and with my husband, and getting into grad school and getting hired after school.
Being able to look back on all of these memories is something that I love doing to be able to see how my life has changed and I look forward to do this as my collection grows.
Do you keep anything sentimental for memory purposes?
