I didn’t mean to take almost a month away from this blog, but somehow it happened. I took a pause for a moment and then that moment moved into weeks as I just didn’t feel called to write anything. I sat down with my computer once or twice fully intending to put a blog post out and then moved onto something different when the words didn’t come.
Since I have been away for a bit I figured I would share some of the things I have been doing in the meantime; what I have been loving, watching, accomplishing, and enjoying for the past little while.
watching
- Wandavision – Now I do love my Marvel movies, but this show I absolutely adored. I really enjoyed having this show to watch every Friday night and the call backs to sitcoms throughout the ages
- Parks and Rec – This is one of my favourite shows and we recently finished a re-watch and it was just happy and wonderful and if you haven’t watched this show – please do
- Superstore – Neither Nigel or I had ever seen this show, but were needing something after we finished Parks and Rec and oh my goodness, it is so funny. We are just into season 2 at this point, but I can’t believe I had never really desired to watch it before
garden
I will have a more expansive garden post up later this month, but with how cold it has been in March, gardening was bit slower than normal. I have planted a few seeds both indoor and outdoor, but it is slow going for the most part and I am excited for it to get busier and more exciting in the coming months
diy/decor
I had some fun last month with some DIY projects for my mantel. I have been trying to search for the perfect art for the mantel and about the TV for a long time and the walls were looking so bare, until I finally decided to see what I could do myself. I bought a canvas from Michael’s and used some leftover paint to make an abstract painting that I really like a lot. I then used some of the paint to decorate some vases with a mixture of the paint and baking soda to create a terracotta-like texture. I also tried this out on two candle holders, but did not like how those two came out.
I then added some Ikea candle holders to the mantel alongside a print of Cultus Lake area to the plant that that was already up there and completed the mantel area. I really love how it looks now and while I still haven’t figured out what to do above the TV at lease there is some more decor going on in the room.

crafting
Also on the crafting note I have taken up embroidery. I had seen it come up time and time again on Instagram and Youtube and I was very interested so when I saw a kit at a local store I had to pick it up. I immediately loved it and really enjoy having something to keep my hands occupied that isn’t my phone. I have bought some more kits off of etsy and it has been such a great option that also gives me something beautiful at the end of it.
working
Of course, this is what has been taking up most of my time, but I am still definitely loving my job. While it is certainly strange to open a brand new library in the midst of of a pandemic it has been so rewarding to get to start connecting with the community and people who want to use the library. Of course getting to interact with tons of brand new books is a perk as well!
fitness
I am excited to work in the building that I do since it is also a recreation facility (alongside of lots of other cool community resources I am excited to work with one day such as community kitchens and woodworking studios). That meant that I was able to go to a few yoga classes this past month. It was my first time in a yoga class in over a year and it was so nice to be able to do that in person again. Of course with the new restrictions that has been put on pause for a few weeks, but I know some outdoor fitness classes are starting soon so I am hoping to check those out when it is safer to.

I am really not in the mindset for at home workouts right now so with the weather getting nicer I am hoping for lots more outdoor walks and hikes and just the ability to get out of the house.
my birthday!
it was my 27th birthday last month and while I wasn’t able to have a big exciting party I at least was able to see some of my friends and family outside which was so nice to do. Nigel and I also went out for a nice dinner and celebrate in the ways that we could, and supporting local businesses along the way.

There is a bit about what has been going on in my life this past month. Sometimes it is important to take some time away, but I am excited for the posts I have planned for April and hope to see you back here soon!
