I work in a library and when you work in a library there are certain authors that you see again and again. People are always checking out their books, full shelves (and more) are dedicated to their works and some authors *cough* James Patterson *cough* seem to have a new book coming in every week.
However most of these authors I have never read a single page of. This year I want this to change. I want to read some of these prolific authors that take up shelves, have books written faster than I think anyone can read them, and be able to know what they are truly about.
I asked on my Instagram what authors people thought of when they thought of prolific writers to get some ideas, while also walking though my library looking at the authors who took up a lot of space on the shelves. Altogether I put together this list:
- James Patterson – >200
- Danielle Steel – 179
- John Grisham – 49
- Mary Higgins Clark – 51
- Clive Cussler – 80
- Janet Evanovich – 40
- Louis L’amour (in honour of my dad) – 101
- Nora Roberts – >200
Now that I have chosen my Authors I have to figure out what from each of them to read. With so many books it is truly hard to choose and I want to read a book that is one of their best so if you have any suggestions for any of these authors please let me know! Also if there are any other prolific authors I should add to my list. I also got suggestions for Stephen King, and other prolific authors on the lists I saw include R.L. Stine and Ann M. Martin, but I have read books by all of those authors.
I am excited for this summer reading challenge to discover some new (to me) authors that it seems pretty much everyone has read.
He was writing more epic and slightly less formulaic books toward the end and I think those were among my favourites. The Walking Drum, and The Lonesome Gods are probably my favourites.
